Default need help !!!! ESP/BAS light

my JK's sick, here's the symptom:

start the engine: ESP/BAS light comes on
hit the ESP switch: only the ESP light comes off
drive around on snow/ice, tires spinning: ESP light comes on
hit the switch: ESP light off

the only mod done last week was RC quick sway bar disco, ( e-disco died last month)

I re-centered the steering wheel
I disconnect the battery for 30 min.
drove around for half hour

what else should I try?

thanks

JL

Sounds like you have an ABS sensor issue. If you are lucky you have a connector loose but could be broken wire or bad sensor. If you know someone that has a scanner have them read your codes and it should tell you which corner to look at.

I 'll check the ABS connectors, but can you tell where to look?

Can't get at mine right now to give you the exact location, but it should be on the frame somewhere near where the brake line is anchored at. Just follow the wire that is at the back of the wheel up and you should come to a connector and you can check the wires as you follow them to the connector.

Ok. I turned off my ESP / BAS for the summer. I followed direction in owners manual. Now I want to turn it back on for winter. I can't seem to get it back on. Anyone else have this problem. I follow instruction in manaul. Still no luck.

checked ABS sensors; all ok

connected Superchip for diagnostic:

code C123F: steering angle sensor comparative performance

tried to locate the steering angle sensor but couldn't find it, anybody know where it is?

code V1159: lost communication with e-disco

( kinda knew about this one)

code B1648: rear right turn lamp control high

might be because I installed a wiring harness for towing behind my RV ( it connect in the rear right light assembly)

The steering sensor should be under the dash on the steering columb. You should see a ring that passes through a sensor with a gap that reads ring holes. Is you steering wheel centered? If it is not centered good it will cause a problem, have seen people posting about that kind of issue before.
