Default need help on how to buy a used radio unit.

Looking at picking up a used factory radio. I found one that says its is Cd/nav/sat radio. Im guessing compatible. is there antennas that go with the features, if so, what are they like?

how do i know if the radio will work for me without installing it. Do they have a code or anything? i dont know if they are locked to an inparticular vin or something.

i just want to know any pointers before i buy a used unit.

any pointers\help would be greatly appreciated.

"Usually" Nav is built into the unit itself so u don't need anything for that, sat radio is usually not built in, so you may need a 'dongle' to receive it depending on your stock setup... What year do u have and what factory model are u looking at? I just installed a new head unit in my '12 jks, so I have the basic 130N RES head unit available...

Make sure that the Head Unit is compatable with your year / model Jeep. Not all are. For the Nav to work, you need the Sat antenna. For Uconnect to work, you need the external Mic. And maybe even a dongle.

It all depends on what year of jeep you have to see what unit works. For example mine is a 07 I what've cd/DVD/Nav/sat and my radio is a 730n RER so my radio code is RER. every stock Chrysler radio for 07 and up will have a code on the lower right Corner(RER,RHB,RBZ and so on).
The best place to look up for what Chrysler radio has is www.jeep.com/en/owners/quality/index.html The only thing this site will not tell you is what works in what years.

If the radio says sat it is built in other than that antenna. Nav built in other that the antenna.
