I am using Phillips extra power. Noticeable increase in light. I'm hoping a full harness will brighten them up. I feel for my driving the stock lenses good. High beam don't matter anyways with my hella hids.

I did the Silverstar Ultra's right after buying the Jeep last year and seeing how bad the stock headlights perform (and that they didn't change much from my 2007). It is evident that it's in the reflector because although the Silverstars are a whiter brighter light, they beam pattern still sucks. I just ordered replacement headlights from KC that are $109.99. I gave $55 for the stinking Siverstars alone and have the same problem of a crappy beam pattern so I'm looking forward to an upgrade.

I did a few write ups and I went from stock housings with PIAA bulbs to the new KC HiLiTES housings with Sylvania ZXE bulbs

The ZXE bulbs are their brightest and whitest bulbs they make and yes they are brighter than the $90 PIAA bulbs! You can get the bulbs for $20-$40 on eBay. Even the fog lights are probably triple as bright. Last but not least you can also see a write up video on them on YouTube.

What I don't like about LEDs are reports that it won't warm the lenses enough to help melt snow when it sticks.
I've had SilverStars in mine for about 4 years, or a little more, and they are on any time the transmission is in gear.
One burned out last week. The other is still OK.

Would the stock bulbs have lasted longer?

I would say that's a pretty good life on them...

I replaced stock with silverstars and adjusted them properly and there was a very big improvement. I have had them on for 4 years now and I have no need to upgrade at all. They are a great.

If you look at the life specs(usually on back of packaging), it shows the Silverstars last considerably less than "regular" bulbs. There's a chart to show the brightness/life/etc of each type of bulb for comparison.
