Default Please Help, Headlight Issue

I recently installed IPF H4 housings into my 2012 JKU and was not impressed with the xenon bulbs it came with so I wanted to swap them out with a brighter, better quality bulb. I found the IPF fat boys II bulb and installed that and was very pleased with the increased light output. However, I know and read that the wattage is higher than the stock bulb so it is suggested to upgrade the headlight wiring harness. This then lead me to purchasing and installing the PUTCO H4 wiring harness/relay onto the IPF housing and IPF bulb. MY problem is that when the car is off and I start the car the headlights flicker and even went out forcing me to click the unlock button on my keyfob again to have the lights turn back on. After I start the car this fading in and out continues. I did not see this before installing the harness and noticed the two black relays in the harness first of all gave off a decently loud buzzing noise and also when the headlight was fading this same buzzing was fading in and out. Finally, after driving for 20 minutes or so with this fading in and out I pulled back into my driveway and NO FADING OR FLICKER!. My concern is it is not safe to drive with the light output when I first start the car and am aggravated from spending this much money and getting such a non-rewarding final product. I wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions and possibly would know what I can do to fix it. I am going to attach all of the parts I used as well as a video of the flicker/fade when first starting the car as well as the light output after a 20 minute drive.

*Also the only other things that I have running off of my battery are an alpine sub and amp that was installed prior to the headlight upgrade

THank you so much

Steve

I think the factory fuse box isn't seeing enough load on the circuit and it is making it act up. Not sure how advanced the Jeep fuse box is. On Fords' if it sees too much load or too little load it will set a fault and disable the circuit due to what it thinks is either a short or open circuit. Then you have to fix the circuit and reset the box buy clearing the DTC.

Sounds like you're having the same issue as with those of us who have the Truck Lite LED headlamps. Canbus issue.

Default What did you do?

Thanks for asking the question. I have the same problem and was looking for an answer. Did you find a solution or figure out what the problem is?

I just took out the relay harness and ran the IPF housings with the fat boy bulbs without it. It is higher wattage than it normally should have but I have had them in since Christmas with no issue and no flicker at all. Hope that helps!
