Default 24 Volt winch in a 12 Volt vehicle

While it is true that the 24 volt winch does not require the full voltage to operate be aware that the winch will attempt to draw more current with a lower voltage . (Voltage X Current = Watts)

It it were me, I would do the following:

It may be obvious, but I will mention to use wire capable of handling the high current of a winch.
In addition, do NOT use a GEL CELL (AGM is a different chemistry and is OK) for either battery as high current charge/discharge WILL damage internal gel cell plates.
