Radio Code
Sorry Radio Code, I am concerned that when I disconnect the vehicle battery I will loose the radio code. Which has not been written in the handbook by the dealer , and I am told I need to remove the radio from the dash to get the code which is on a sticker on top of the radio. Is this correct ?.

Are you writing it down in case of theft?
As far as I know you shouldn't lose anything when you disconnect the battery.
I don't think we understand what you mean by the "radio code." Might be a problem with our different national dialects, i.e. garbage can vs. rubbish bin.
Unless he's worried about the Sirius getting goofed.?....... You can pull up the S/N for that in the setup I think..... I wouldn't worry about it. I've had my batteries out many times and the Radio (Sat and all) still works great.

I think he's talking about an anti-theft code.
On many if not all modern car stereos, if the power to the head unit is interuppted (flat battery, unit removed from vehicle, etc) then the unit cannot be operated again until you enter a series of numbers first into the unit, otherwise it remains locked and unusable with the display asking you to enter the unlocking code. On previous vehicles I've ownwd the code was a simple 4-digit one entered into the radio using the tuning & volume buttons, but wouldn't have a clue how it's done on my JK's touch screen My-gig.

There was no radio anti-theft code in any of my JK paper work. It's more likely the radio won't work if the JK computer doesn't recognize the radio. So, disconnecting the power or removing the radio shouldn't be an issue unless you install a radio from another JK... just my theory.
I bought a newer REQ (6 disc) to put into my 07 JK and I sold my existing REQ and never worried about any codes.
I don't know if Jeep/Dodge keeps track of any stolen units, because these things are pretty useless if you don't have the CAN BUS setup. I could see the star scan reporting an installed unit as stolen if they had a database of stolen units.
