Default Which radio unit do i need?? Help please

I have a 2012 JKU automatic. I have the stock radio w/Sat & Bluetooth but I would like to upgrade to be able to have a touch screen and back up camera. Which unit do I need to upgrade to? I would like to possibly watch DVD's but not necessarily need Navigation. Not sure if I would need to have it to watch dvd's. With so many options out there I'm not sure which one I need?? RER, RHR, 730N, 430N, etc. can someone who has done the swap give me some part #'s and possibly where they bought it along with camera options. Thanks for your help guys

Not sure about the unit model you need, but most states have hefty fines for running decks with video playback anywhere but in back seats

Some states even fine the installer who did the job...

Lots of options available - with and without nav. I went with the RBZ radio which has touch screen and no nav. It will fully function with your Uconnect bluetooth and speech recognition. You will need to make sure it is a high speed bus unit or it will not work.

As far as watching DVDs, you can watch them while in park, but will need a device like the lockpick to watch videos while in motion. The lockpick also allows you to enter destinations into a nav while in motion and it will set you up for multiple cameras (front, rear, side, etc.). I installed a backup camera and love it. It automatically comes on when you shift the vehicle into reverse. I am considering a camera in my front bumper, but would only manually activate it when needed (on trails, etc.).

To best answer your question, it is best to ask you a question.

Did your current system come with the Uconnect connectivity Package?

If it did come with the Uconnect connectivity package, your best option will be the MyGig RHB(430N). This unit has Navigation with a touch screen and with the Uconnect connectivity package it will be plug and play.

If your vehicle didn't come with the Uconnect connectivity package then your best option would be the MyGig RHR(730N). The RHR also has a touchscreen with Navigation. The RHR additionally has built in Uconnect. The RHB does NOT have built in Uconnect, and requires the external Uconnect module.

Another option is the MyGig RER. The RER is the previous version of the RHR. So these can be found at a lower cost. The main items that the RHR added is Bluetooth streaming audio and USB device playback support, like iPods and USB sticks as well as split screen view. The RER also has built in Uconnect.

All of these units have built in DVD players, so you can put a disc in the radio and playback a DVD and all of them can be setup to work with a rear camera.

Are you interested in selling your current head unit? What is the p/n? I have a 2007 and am looking to upgrade to a stock head unit with Sirius.

I would more than likely sell it but not until I buy the new unit. Not sure on part# but as soon as I pull it out I'll PM you with info.

Yep, the RHB would most likely fit your needs best for a plug and play solution since the Uconnect module would plug right into that radio. An RHR or RER would require you to not plug in the Uconnect module where you would need to make an adapter for the microphone to plug into the back of the radio and move the center console USB connector from the module to the radio.

They're both doable just the RHB would be much less work.

I would go aftermarket with the pioneer app radio, it has every feature u need. And not all states ban everything, the only thing that is illegal is video in motion. You can still use the GPS you just can't type in the address or type in a number using Bluetooth. Video decks will never be banned and u can pretty much find everything u need to know from installation to bypassing park brakes
