Default Recon LED grill turn signals

Is it just me, or should I have just thrown this $130 into the gutter? The directions...are horrible and nearly nonexistent. I went online and watched videos of the install, and was still unable to get them to work right. I spliced into the outer white wire for those wondering. The parking light would work, but whenever the blinker was turned on, it would flash once and then nothing except for a fast flash from inside. I had the extra resistor wired up as well, and the smaller resistor would start smoking. It was grounded to the part of the body as well. The install was started, and ended on the passenger side blinker. Some people said to go to Radio Shack to get a better resistor, but I think it's absolutely ridiculous to have to try and piece together parts for a brand new light. For that price...it should be plug and play. Recon needs to step up their game.

I got their eBay version from a company in California for $49. Not bad for the $$ considering they came with resistors and all. I also looked @ the recon videos online and I had the same issue you described on the driver side. When I would engage the blinker it would work for a second and fast blink inside and the light would stop working... My fix was to replace the crappy scotch connectors that came w the kit and it did the trick!
I noticed that though they appear to be labeled L and R the pass side connector is a PITA to connect as it pulls the stock plug on the opposite side (towards the middle of the jeep) as oppose to the outside like the drivers side and stock markers do. Aside from that and the fact that they are not as bright as I thought they would be...I do like the 'look' the give the jeep.

Any pics? I'm needing to upgrade my turn signals. I thought about mounting some flush mount Rigid Dually's in there. Lol

Ill try and take some in the a.m. They look just like the recon ones. Ordered them in clear and did one pass with VHT night shades just to give 'em a slight darker shade.

Yea, for their price I'm not buying it... they seem cheap and crappy when they could be so much better... why don't they even have the factory connector on them for that kind of $$?!

They do have a factory connector on them, but they can only go one way in the connector. Seems like that could be an easy fix for them though. The wiring has to deal with the resistor so the Jeep will still recognize that a load is there, and not think that the bulb is burned out because of the lower amp draw that the LED's have.

Default hmm

I withdraw my complaint, however yes the resistor should be built in also.

I agree 100%. For that kind of price...it should be plug and play. I'm torn on returning them. Only problem with that though...I bought them off of Ebay from a wholesaler. Still paid $130 for them though.
