I really don't think the head unit sends anything other than a full spectrum of sound...

The factory tweeters had little things on the back of them to act as crossovers...

I am feeding the front crossovers the front channels and those separate the signals to the separate speakers

The back speakers have their own crossovers built into the speakers

I do have to say there is a difference in the infinity and non.. I have the non and my sound bar has full range. My buddy has the infinity and the sound bar only has higher frequencies. and I'm pretty sure this is all separated through the amp not the headunit as the headunit is the same in me and my buddies. I have replaced all my mids with kickers as well as added 2 12 inch L7s and a zx1500 watt amp and a new headunit. (all In and behind the backseat of a 2012 2 door)

I wonder. I wish we had someone with intimate knowledge of the HU. I have read that the tweeters have resistors in-line that are there to prevent them from getting overloaded, so they aren't crossovers if that is true. I am only repeating what I have read though. I am trying to do research before I make changes to mine, but keep getting conflicting stories. In my '08 I did the Mopar Kicker swap on all 4 and did notice a nice improvement, but would like a little more in my '12.

I as well would like to know if the 150 aka res is full specturm x6 output or what its tweeter cross over points are.
I plan on adding components and would rather use a filtered output from the hu for tweeters then splitting output with the woofer using the speakers cross over.

If full spectrum:
I would run the componets off the dash channel using the speaker cross over

If tweeters are filtered:
I would want to know the hu output cross over points compared to the tweeter spec to see if its do able. The advantage to this is that I would be running all of the RES output channels and not splitting off the dash woofers.

I just replaced my soundbar and fronts with the Kicker Mopar replacements. I had the non-infinity system with standard Sirius HU (not the 430 or 730) and I can verify that highs are sent to all speakers. That leads me to believe the dash tweeters have their own built-in crossovers. Anyway, for the $65 I paid per pair off eBay for the Mopar Kickers, the difference was huge. I replaced them one at a time and all of a sudden I had clear high-hats and cymbals in each, lots more bass and clear mids. I'm sure there are better speakers but for the money this is the best deal and a big improvement on sound quality. Install was easy for soundbar but a PITA for the dash. I found taking the front doors off made it a bit easier. Here's pictures of the stock vs. kickers.

As long as it sounds good/better to you!

It's almost like wine, some people hate anything that isn't hundreds of $$$ a bottle and others are thrilled with the $20 bottle

Audiophiles take sound to an absolute extreme

Kinda like the guys with the jeeps with $15,000 in mods and lift kits so high you could skateboard under it!

I did this swap in my '08 that I traded in for the '12 and agree that the sound is better. I can confirm this since the '12 doesn't sound as good as what I had. For me, though, it wasn't quite enough of an improvement. I used poly fill and everything, but would like a little better sound and bass. I know that I will have to add a small sub to at least get some bump. I just read things about the highs being split (which seems like it may be an Infinity thing?) and also that the sound level drops when the hard top is unplugged, which just blows my mind.

The soundbar volume/quality definitely suffers as soon as you unplug the hardtop

My soundbar sounded pretty damn good right up until I pulled off the hard top

I'm thinking of making one of those jumpers and giving that a try

Replaced my Sound bar speakers with Polk Audio marine grade as well. I didn't like the install with just the speaker alone so I went ahead and chopped the factory cover to make it a ring so it looks more OEM.

I think this is the passenger side one. Comparatively, just the speaker replacement alone is a huge step up in sound quality.

Normally i'd hate on digging up older threads, but I like the idea with the trimmed factory grill. Polk grills are always so unique.

Marine grade is a gimmick Polk loves to flaunt. Any poly or aluminum cone speaker with a solid rubber not foam surround is marine grade enough for a jeep :p . Don't get me wrong, Polk do have anti corrosion coatings on the rear of the speaker in the marine grade parts, but the jeep won't see enough salt water spray to warrant it.
