Splicing fog lights into headlights?
I've got a '09 x, and got my hands on a sahara bumper with the fog lights. Instead of running a new wire/switch for them could I just tap into the headlights wiring, so when ever I turn on my headlights the fogs come on too?
I don't know if that would be too much for the wiring or fuse.
Thanks in advance for your knowledge.

People have had bad luck with tapping into the headlights, as they are not fused, and are pulse width modulated.
You could tap into the TIPM at an empty fuse slot that gets power only when the key in in the RUN position. The fogs would be like daytime running lights, but would remain on when the headlights are on, if that's what you want.

The second paragraph sounds like what I am looking for, just something I don't have to turn them on and off separately is what I'd like. Do you know what fuse slot and fuse rating I'd have to use?
Sorry if I'm not using the right terminology, I obviously don't know alot about electronics.

I have no idea what that first paragraph says other than "bad idea, don't do it".

That write up in the link is great!!!
Seems EZ to do, what size fuse do you think is big enough for the fogs, and what gauge wire; if you know off hand?

Little help.....
I have read ronjenx's fuse tap write up, (and another eerily similar one on another site) and have more questions. Can I wire the stock sahara fog lamps directly to the fuse box with the fuse tap? All of my reading makes me think I need a switch and relay now.
I'm definitely an "electard" and am confusing myself.
I have the 18g stranded wire, fuses and the fuse tap.
All I want is the easiest way to get these frigging lights to work without burning up my rig.
Thanks

This is the simplest drawing I have. Just disreguard the switch.
From Rons fuse tap ( At the "RUN" plug in ) run the wire to terminal #86. Install a 3 amp fuse.
Run a wire from terminal #85 to ground.
Run a wire from the battery "THRU A FUSE " to terminal #30. Use a 10 A fuse
Run two wires from terminal #87 ( one to each light )
run the ground wires ( one from each light ) back to a good ground source.
