I went through the exact same thing with my 2011. After several trips to the dealership and finding someone that knew what they were doing it was basically a 30 minute fix once they had the right parts. They replaced the switches in the back of the steering wheel and everything has worked fine since. Before that the steering wheel was taken apart and the clockspring replaced. Worked for all of 5 minutes. Don't settle for banging on the steering wheel as a fix or hoping that it just goes away.

 

Mine's going in tomorow, it worked fine for two months then gave out for a week, then started up after i did a tight reverse turn, then gave up after another tight reverse turn and never came back. cruise control works fine and since I don't have nav it's more of a convenience thing.

 

Sorry to bring back a dead thread, but I just had this happen this morning. Any chance it has to do with the cold weather? This morning has been one of the coldest this year and this is the first time my steering wheel controls have quit on me. I made it all the way to 3030 miles before this happened, and from the looks of everyone elses' posts, that's not too bad.

Anyway, for those who got this fixed (completely) do you know what the dealership did so that I can request mine to do the same work? Thank you guys for your help!!!
