Still have HID problem after using the DIode trick. Do I have to install on high too
I installed the diode trick on the low beam circuit of my HIDs, they do not flciker on low, but Hi beam do, also, the DRL still flicker....any ideas out there guys..
The diode just prevents you reverse powering and frying the ecu. The capacitor is what prevents the flicker. Did you add a capacitor in the circuit? If you still have a flicker, then most likely the capacitor is not sized correctly.
Oh and since you have the Bixenons (High and low beam) you have to use 2 diodes and 2 capacitors! One set for the High beam wire and one for the low beam wire. Sounds like you only installed a cap and diode on the low beam wire.
Nope! The problem there is the DRL voltage supplied to the lights is only around 6-8 volts and the ballasts require at least 10 volts to start. Thats why they will flicker when the DRL's are on. But there is a solution! Get the AEV Pro-cal and it will allow you to re-assign what lights you want to use for you DRL's. (Or disable them completely) Example you can relocate the DRL to use your marker lights (On high or low) or your fog lights for DRL's.

I had to use the procal unit on mine. Installed a bi xenon for the headlights and hid's for the fogs as well so I move the DRL to the indicators so there is still at least something running to help my case if I ever get pulled over for them. I tried a couple tricks and even tried calling around locally but no one could help so ended up having to fork over for the procal. So if you have a '11 then its not much help.
