Default stock headlights&foglights upgrade

Had a visit to my range club up on mountain tonight, I have to say the stock lights on Jk are close to nothing. So I ordered a set KC lights right away, but I'd also like to upgrade the stock lights. Please let me know HOW...

i got a set of Sylvania Silverstar replacement bulbs and IMHO these are the only bulbs worth your money and I think they are considerably brighter than stock bulb #H13 (this will probably receive criticism). I have used lots of the 'hyper white' / 'xenon' bulbs and they are junk. Silverstar works fyi..you gotta take off the front grill for a bulb change.

I also just ordered some fog light replacement bulbs OEM #9145 (interchangeable with H10)
I ordered a 'arctic yellow' bulb...thats indian for 'really freekin bright yellow/and or amber' they are made by a company called Nokya. I have had these same bulbs in motorcycles(more for other people to see me) and let me tell you these put out some light

I choose the yellow for fog lights just for preference....it thinks its better for perception--especially in cruddy weather. you can get the same bulb in white light too.

I have never purchased any of PIAA or any other 'premium' bulbs I just think they are outrageous in regards to price

i think unless you are going to upgrade the optics(entire light) the silver stars are the cheapest and best upgrade

I bought a set of the Nokya Arctic White bulbs as a replacement for the fog/driving lights. When I installed them they came on for about 1 second and then went out and would blink periodically then completely go out. Put the stock bulbs back in and it worked fine. Am I missing something here? I would have thought they would be direct replacements.

Without knowing what those particular lights are, i would guess they are over the wattage limit for the circuit. I think the stock ones are 40 or 45w

Those are what? 55W?

whoa. I did not have that problem. mine worked correclty. i assume you did get the h10 style bulb? Always check to see if the wire harness is seated correctly on the bulb. sorry to hear that. maybe see if the seller will let you exchange them. there is nothing special or unique about them. just plug and play.

Yes, there were the H10 style bulbs. I checked and rechecked the harness connection and it really didn't make a difference. Strange that the would light up for a second and the blink slowly about 3 or 4 times and then just go out. Guess I'll have to check into other alternative bulbs as the stock ones are pretty weak.

Had the same experience. the stock fogs are 42w and anything higher tripped the circuit protection. If you want to go higher just use the stock wire to trigger a relay. I've been running 65w bulbs in my fog lamps for over a year now with no problems.

Default bulbs installed

Well. I have had trouble free operation for almost 3 weeks now, with Silverstar headlight bulbs and Nokya arctic yellow h10 fog bulbs.

FYI: the Nokya bulbs are 55 watts

This picture has Silverstars installed and one Nokya(right hand side) fog light and OEM fog light bulb (left hand side)

This is both Nokya fog light bulbs installed and Silverstar headlight bulbs

I've been using SilverStar headlight bulbs and Nokya fog light bulbs since 1/10/2008 without a problem.
