Default Sub upgrade

I have the upgraded sound system with the Sub in the trunk and was wondering if anyone with the same system has upgraded the sub.

Can you do a straight sub swap to a high line sub and get better sound? Do i need to put in an amp?

Any help is appreciated, I don't know much about sound systems.

Can you get better sound just from upgrading the sub though?? Or do i HAVE to install an amp as well?

You might get a slightly cleaner bass just swapping, but if you want more volume and overall better sound, you will need an amp. Not too hard to do

ok then, can I add an amp to the stock sub? Or should I just suck it up and replace both?

You cant add a larger amp with the stock sub, it will blowout. Change to a better quality higher output sub and amp. Thats on the list for my future mods.

i thew a basslink in the back and it's great, better then infinity system i was told, i have pics but if you have the housing there might as well use it, amp and sub will do the job, throw the amp under the front seat and sub in the houseing and it should be good form there, just look aruond for good deals cuz some are pricey

Does anyone have suggestions on the maximum subwoofer upgrade for the Infinity system in a Jeep Wrangler unlimited. Given that the wiring and head unit must only support a certain amount of wattage. Do you think it could support a JL TW5 series sub (or equivalent) and an ~800 Watt amp swap?
