Tapping in to Power
Yes, I know, another questions about power tapping. But in my HOURS of searching, I cant seem to answer 1 simple question due to so many if's, ands and but's. Dont get me wrong, I have learned a wealth of information in these forums, and am very grateful for this community. BUT, I had my whole damnd jeep torn apart last night, ran about 30 feet of wires and was getting ready to pull the trigger on an auxillary wire tap, when I got cold feet and figured I would ask the question straight out before doing so. So here we go.
- I have 2 DVD self contained headrest units that need to pull 12v power.
- I want ingnition lit power so I/the kids dont leave these things on.
- Planned to use the Aux Wire Tap for the left aux jack as shown in this Quadratech PDF.
http://www.quadratec.com/Assets/Installation/103381.pdf
Got all the way to the point of getting ready to tap and got cold feet.
Can I tap in to the rear of this outlet for both monitors to draw 12v power without much worry via a wiretap?
The power wires for each of the monitors have their own capacitor/fuse box as shown in the attached pic.
I was thinking I could "Tap" in with a wire tap to the Blue/Pink wire in the back of the AUX jack and run a power line to the back through the console and "Tap" these in closer to the seat backs.
I have also toyed with running a fuse tap from the Fuse box in the front. But, everyone seems to have a different reason for each.
Thoughts? Recomendations? I will be grateful for all and realize this is at my own risk.
Once I get this up and running, I promise a full write up in repayment to the community.
Thanks

OK Dude
I read the Quadratek instructions. And I could not find anything wrong with them. But, that doesn't mean that you could not improve the set-up. Do you have heated seats? Maybe tap this terminal in the fuse panel.

Instead of applying a 12v aux outlet, could I just run the hotwire to the back and tap in to that? Or are you thinking somehting more robust?
Considering I have fuse boxes for the power sources im not too worried about blowing fuses in the box.
I dont have heated seats and saw a few write ups on running power for these. Are you thinking running something similar to this as being a better option?
