Thumbs up Tip: myGIG RER & REW Bluetooth Activation

Just wanted to share my experience with my myGIG which had uConnect and Bluetooth disabled.

I was helped via http://mofv.com/MyGIG/BBS/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=157 (credit to mr. CD1) and was able to activate this functionality by upgrading the software which can be downloaded via the same site and then through the ENGINEERING MENU of the myGIG:

a) Press and hold the MENU + Seek up + Seek down buttons
b) Then, press the soft arrow button on the screen until you are at the last menu page.
c) Then, press the menu item to "Enable JK HFC/VR module" (or similar). Be sure to confirm, if needed.

Bluetooth worked like a charm and I could pair instantly ... now waiting for the mopar uconnect microphone to be shipped!

I just use mine for phone use and that is what I wanted out of it, having to touch the uconnect on the radio to then tell it what to do is retarted, may as well just push the button.
Well, i guess it's just taste, since the uConnect button is the top right one, i can push it without having to look toward the radio, then bark out commands to it, without taking eyes off of the road. Very helpful with getting used to Sirius and the channels and their numbers, because, i don't have to remember them, just holler out the station name, and voila.

How do you control the phone then? Without the voice commands?

If your phone is paired with the unit, and you dial by hand from the phone, it uses the mic and speakers, etc. so basically you would be using just like a bluetooth headset.

I like to use the voice commands.

push 1 button, say call "wife, work, whoever" and the type of # home, work, mobile and it confirms it and then you say yes and there it goes.

Or you can just press the button and say dial and the give the # and it enters it in for you.

I have had problems with xferring calls in progress using the UConnect and Bluetooth when I exit the Jeep -- I posted a new thread on the subject but thought I would ask --- how does this work for you ?

I have to hit options key on my phone and select “use handset” before turning off the jeep and the call transfers. May not be the same for all phones.

You can also use the VR command "transfer call" before you exit the Jeep - if I recall correctly.

Followed the steps and voila, worked like a charm. Paired my Motorola phone w/out an issue. I just need to now wait for the microphone.
I can not thank the members here for their great posts. Some of the service personnel at the Chrysler Dealership did n't even have a clue on this engineering menu. Thank you all.
