If you leave something small in the glove box (small control screwdriver) you can just press down on the mechanism where the seat belt goes and it will think it is latched untill you release it.

I'd rather just never hear the dinging. I don't need to be reminded I'm not wearing a seat belt if I choose not to wear one.

I've never had a problem with wearing a seat belt, but I was always poor at doing it.
The bell definately promps me, but I agree wearing one should be a matter of choice.

I'm leaving the dinging...

The only, real, reason I replied, was this is my 100th post. So with the new titles, I'm no longer a "newbie"....

Default Even Better

If anyone wants a quick fix that will take care of not only the seat belt alarm but the light on the dash also I just got done testing the wires. Underneath the drivers side seat you will find a plug with four wires. Take the green and black wires strip them back a little and splice them together. You dont have to cut them, just make sure they have good contact. Sodder and tape is the best way. This will make the computer think your seat belt is on and will turn off the light and the alarm.

Sit in the drivers seat, (with key off) fasten seatbelt. Turn key on, withint 10 seconds, release the seatbelt and latch seatbelt 3 times. After you latch it for the 3rd time, turn the key off. It will sound a ding to let you know it has changed. Its pretty easy, and as others have stated, it is in the manual.

I think the seatbelt mod also took care of my annoying "Door ajar" alarm, when the key is in the ignition. Now when i'm putting the top back up at night, I can listen to the music, have the lights on and door open without hearing DING DING DING DING.....

the wire fix worked great!
but the key in chime is still there if you have the key turned to accessory, it doesn't chime if you have the key 'on'.
Anyone have any idea how to get rid of the key in chime so I can have the door open and the radio on without ding ding ding ding or doing what I've been doing- unplugging the door harness like I was taking it off.

Default The Ding

The best way to take care of that would be just to remove the speaker under the dash that the chine plays through. I will look for it but havent been intrested in doing this. I have a habit of leaving my lights on and this is the only thing that remindes me so I dont end up with a dead Batt. If you have the same problem I do just turn your key to the second position. You will get a few dings but then they stop.

Are there any places that sell replacement buckles? If so, you could buy one and keep it in your glove box for those times when you want to drive unbuckled. Pull it out, snap it in, and the "idiot lights" (as my dad called them) are satisfied. Plus, no mods needed.

Default CHIME CHIME CHIME CHIME ....Crank

Okay. I don't have my tire monitors on. So it chimes on the start. After about 15 minutes, I get another chime just driving. But I don't see anyting on my dash showing me why? CAn anybody guess why? When you're driving and if you're low in washer fluid and you go uphill or something, does that chime and show on the dash. Otherwise my oil change and tire pressure chimes on the start? It's wierd. Also on the 2008s, does anybody with a stick are having long cranks (3 seconds)?
