Default What alarm are you using?

MY 2010 Rubi was rifled last night and they pulled the knob off of the Mygig. I want to add a security system: motion or proximity. I like the EVS system because you don't need an extra remote but I have remote start and it says it isn't compatible. I did a search and saw a DEI install. Is there anything else out there that works with the factory system? Plug and play would be nice. Factory system is probably ok with the doors on Any help is greatly appreciated!

Sorry to hear that.. I had a VIPER alarm system on my Truck with sensors in the tail lights and other areas. Worked great, had a remote for the key chain that would light up if there was a alarm event.

i have the viper 5901.. works great.. plus gives you remote start... if you are good with wiring you can install it yourself and save alote of money.. you can get one around 250 with the wiring harness or pay around 500 installed... their are some new interfaces that make it pretty easy to install your self..

Has anyone tried the Viper Smart Start yet? I'm thinking that would be a good way to go, since you can use your Droid or iPhone to use all the features.

I haven't but plan to get the setup before the year ends. Going to get the Viper 5901 alarm then add the smart start add-on module, to have a fully secure setup plus smart start. I heard smart start system by itself doesn't have a high security as other alarms. Thats why im going to couple it with the compatible 5901.

i looked into the smart start.. but seemed alittle pricey for what you get... from what i could tell you could only start your jeep from any location... but i dont think it does much else than that.

some on, on here posted a link to either a shock sensor or proximity sensor that works with the factory security system. it is really easy to install, it basically tricks the factory alarm in to thinking a door opened, which sets off the factory alarm. i cant see it being more then 4 wires, two of which would be power and ground.

I checked into the Smartstart system also and found that you can not only start your vehicle but lock and unlock your doors (If you have power locks) and it will alert you if the vehicle alarm is triggered.
