Default What should a Computer Flash Cost?

I just installed the U-connect module and iPod cable in my Jeep. Does anyone know what time and labor is involved to re-flash the computer.

If possible, I would like to know what the Mopar labor rate is for this procedure, this way my dealer won't be able to hose me (as bad).

TIA

Yeah, ain't that the truth! Unfortunately, I can't answer your question, but I just wanted to contribute that when I changed my tires there was also a recall that required a reflash of the computer. So, I figured I could get the reflash for free, or maybe cheap since they were already going to have to connect up the Jeep, run the computer, etc. Nope. $75 so the tech could go to one screen and tell it I was running 32s (even though I was actually running 33s, but that's the highest their software would go). Instead I picked up a Hypertech. I know dealers need to make money, but $75 for five minutes additional labor? Give me a break.

There is no such thing as a mopar labor rate that I'm aware of.

It varies from dealer to dealer, but if it was me I wouldn't pay more than $35-45 because as Mark pointed out it should only take them a few minutes to hook up the starscan and make the change.

If they want more just go to another dealer.

I think that when the OP says Mopar labor rate that he is referring to labor time not really a dollar amount rate. Usually when an accessory is added to a vehicle the mopar instructions that come with the part say how much time it should take to install..Similarly when doing warranty repair the dealer is only paid on how much time it should take not how long it does take. Which is why at alot of dealers each guy kinda has a few jobs/repairs that he kinda specializes in....he isn't necessarily better at doing the repair then the guy on the lift next to him but he is faster...So if the job calls for 4 hours and he gets it done in two he is paid for 4 hours but could potentially complete two of those jobs in 4 hours billing 8 hours. Thats where the dealer service depts and techs make there real money.

My dealer said he would charge me for about 20 minutes labor roughly 35 to reflash my computer to add my backup cam (no lockpick)

That's about right. Local dealer charged me close to $50 with tax and all to flash the electronic sway bar disconnect feature to my old Sahara.
