Default Windshield mounted lighting help please

I am looking to put windshield mounted lights on my jeep and have a few questions.

Will 6"-6.5" lights interfere with my view?
Should I put a gasket between the mounting bracket and the jeep?
Is there any significant difference between available brackets? Recommendations?
Anyone have strong feelings either way on lights by Warn, IIPF or PIAA?
I was thinking of connecting them right into the high beams. Has anyone else done that? Any problems?

Thanks

Smittybuilt brackets have the tabs down and away. Most others sit about an inch higher. I have the smitty to reduce my ability to actually notice the lights. I personally dont like 6" lights up there, so I have Rigid D2 LED pods. They are small and put out plenty of light. I cant notice the light blocking my view at all and a bit less hood light with the mount being down and away. The brackets all seem to come with a gasket. For the light brands, the big names are all fine lights. Im running PIAA 520s on my bumper. Very happy with them. If you check out some of our sponsors on here, you will see a few alternative choices for LED pods like the Rigid D2s. Im a big fan of Rigid and dont mind paying the extra cash for them. You may want to check out Inspired Engineering 6 CUBE Driving lamp Special
On the site they list a discount code for 15% off making these really affordable. You can put them on any brackets and they will look and perform really nice Im sure.

I'm running 6" KC Slimlites without any issues. Just be sure to get spots because they don't cause any reflection off the hood.

Yes use a gasket. I used a old bicycle tube.

There are a bunch of good choices for mounts just do you research on what you want.

As far as brand everyone's got a favorite. I just went KC because they are not LED's, they are 130 watts and have a great warranty.

As far as connecting to high beams it's required in CA. I tried it and did not like it. I ended up just powering up from the battery.

I have and recommend the PIAA 520's. Using RR brackets, which include a gasket.
