Question Wire for instrument panel lights?

Has anyone found a way to tap into the hot wire for the instrument panel lights without removing the dash? I got a lighted clinometer off ebay for $1.99, and I'd love to wire it into the dash's panel lights. The service manual was virtually no help finding where to tap in.

Anyone tried this?

Check this out, I did this to cast some light on the cupholder area. The process is the same, and it is on the dimmer.

Default Thanks!

Got it, thanks. Does that bundle come out on the driverside under the dash?

Nope. Just finished lighting up my Dark space like this thread...

https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-electrical-lighting-sound-systems-13/big-dark-hole-night-28795/

and I tapped into the Orange with Grey wire for hot and the Black one for ground. It was a tight space. too tight for my bulky hands. All 4 of my lights dim and I can't wait till tonight so I can see what it looks like.

Good luck. It took me about an hour and a half to complete it.

I have a 2011 Wrangler. I want to do the same thing with this illuminated rocker switch...

So when the dashboard lights turn on automatically, the light inside the rocker switch comes on simultaneously with the dashboard lights. Does anyone know if the Orange with Grey stripe (from this thread) will be the same wire to tap into for the dashboard lights with the 2011 Wranglers???

Sorry man. I don't think that you can make that switch work that way. The lamp in the switch is wired internaly so that it recieves power from the switch power source when the switch is turned on.

Actually I think this particular switch has a separate circuit that's independent of that. Here's the circuit diagram:

Here's the website where I'm buying it from:

Anyone know what wire I could tap into to have the switch's internal lamp turn on simultaneously with the dashboard lights??? (I have a 2011 Wrangler)
