still peckin .......
engine still pecking .........
I had a couple different mechanics tell me it was a stuck lifter...
that made more sense than anything so far.. so I had the lifters replaced. (all , not just the one he thought it was)
Still pecking,
I dont have a clue as to what to do next...
any suggestions... .......

505 Performance 3.8 HO
Well , pulled the engine and tore it down...... Could not find an issue....
So, I have sent it off to 505 Performance to get them to rebuild. I have heard good and bad.
I talked to Zach and he told me everything I wanted to hear , so now we wait..
He told me it would be a short turnaround and I would be back on the road.

With the 505 rebuild- did you elect to have them punch it out to the 4.1 or just do a rebuild on what was there? Any other upgraded posts besides what we can see in you're pics?
My motor doesn't peck but at 150k miles I know that a day will come where I'll have to do something about the motor. The only other person that had long-term experience with 505 (and bothered to report on it) was all negative.

I did not do the 4.1 stroker , I done the "3.8 Jeep JK HO 240hp Longblock" with the midrange cam .
I have only put about 100 miles on the new motor , but it is smooth and sounds good. I will be able to tell more about it in a few weeks. I am happy with it so far and happy with Zach's help during the process.

Like Karl I listen carefully each time I fire mine up as well..
I don't want to be that guy, but what did everything set you back? I love my Jeep and have gone through pretty much everything but the motor and trans, but i know that won't be for too too much longer.

cost
While Talking with Zach at 505 , I learned a lot about these motors. Mainly, keep the oil checked , don't let it set for weeks at a time without starting and driving. use the good oil filter (WIX) Zach seemed to think that too many dry starts caused my problems. But ,anyway , back to the cost....
I went with the HO 3.8 at $3995 plus shipping (about $600) , and got a performance built Torque Converter from 505 , another $500, I put in a new water pump at $40 . Plus misc other small parts and fluids , I am at about $$5800 . and that is with all the labor of pulling it out of the Jeep and putting it all back together by yours truly ........so $0 labor.

update break in miles
I am at about 500 miles now. The motor is doing fine so far , no issues. I did do the Super Chips "Performance Tune , for 93 Octane" . I think that helped it out a little bit.
I had an oil leak , which turned out to be a valve cover gasket not seated properly . An easy fix. and oil was coming out of the filler cap on the valve cover. seems the "O" ring type gasket was letting oil blow by. so I changed that and the new "o" ring fixed that too.
