Finally got some of the last parts needed before being able to mate the body back to the chassis. One of which was the tires. I guess in addition to the multitude of shortages in the country, there is a shortage of 40" tires. I was going to go with the Nitto trail grapplers but they were on indefinite backorder. I was able to get the last 4 toyo open country's from discount tire. Loaded them up and brought them home today.

If everything goes to plan I'll be able to mount them to the wheels this weekend and mate the body and chassis together.

 

Nice luck on getting tires. Haha, according to my tire shop, I got the last 5 37x12.5x17 Cooper STT’s. They’re now on a crazy back order too.

btw: I’m impressed you were able to fit 4 of those tires on that rack. Haha.

Mounted all the tires onto kmc beadlocks. Nothing to note except that I have arthritis now from doing up all those bolts. Also put the springs and shocks in place and mounted the chassis on the wheels. I now have a rolling chassis again! Engine harness also was installed.

As always I got less done than I intended to. Before I can mate the body and chassis back together I have to do some work to the EVAP system, and finish the fuel plumbing.

Work has been crazy the last couple months so progress has been slow. I had done some uninteresting things like installing accessories, wiring harnesses, evap system, replacing old hardware.

Today I got out of work early and was able to mate the body and frame together. It's not torqued down yet, but the entire weight is on there.







Big things left to do:
Cooling plumbing
Hydro plumbing
Interior wiring
Driveshafts
Fab up an exhaust
Air system for lockers/on board air

 

Finished the wiring (minus the final tidy up), did the first electrical system power up and the canbus is working fine, installed the driveshafts. Just waiting on one hydraulic fitting and fluids and I should be able to fire the thing up.

Looks like I'll be welding up my own stainless exhaust... So well see how that goes.


Only things left with 260k miles are the body, frame and gas tank.

Very close now. I finalized all the hydro plumbing, wrapped it in protective chafe guard. Finally started her up this afternoon, fired on the first crank (after a pre crank without fuel pressure to circulate some oil).

Next up is time to really button things together nicely, and I need to make the exhaust.

 

Ok just a quick question how are you all dealing with the extra weight of the LS motor on the front springs.

 

Weight is no different. LS3 is about 400 lbs, I believe the stocker is about the same weight.
