So the other day, a friend gave me a winch they had laying around. Had no idea what was wrong with it, or anything about it. I picked it up and learned it was a Chicago Electric 10,000 lb winch. Took it home and did some research on it. Just an old harbor freight winch. So I went out today to try and make it work! First just wired it up and nothing. So I go inside and look some diagnosis steps up, and learn a few things. Found out the solenoid was bad so I tore it down and the insides look great! So I made a post in some local groups to see where to get a replacement and a buddy told me he had an extra Smittybilt solenoid laying around I could try. So he comes over and we wired it up and like magic, it worked! So I gave him an old drill charger I had, in trade for the solenoid! Next big purchase will either be metal for a rear winch bumper, or JCR's corner armor when it comes out. Has anyone in here ever done a rear winch set up on a jk? For now it will be on a cradle that slides into the hitch but I am going to build a bumper eventually to house it so it's hidden and I don't have to move it all the time! Any ideas? I found a few threads and I'm pretty set on one, but someone may have an idea that I do not!

I also went on a little adventure last weekend and found a pretty cool creek crossing, and a nice beach along the river to hang out at!
If you follow this link, it goes to a short clip of a small obstacle I did with my jeep.

Time for an update! Nothing crazy new. Still trying to ball on a budget. I picked up a hitch cradle for the winch, temporarily. Figured out that the switch in the remote is shot, so I'm going to pick one up when I get around to going to the parts store. I plan on running in cab controls. I also plan on mounting the solenoid in the back of the jeep, where the factory jack and lug wrench go, since I use a bottle jack now. I have also decided against adding A/C to my jeep, as I drive with the doors and windows off 98% of the time. Instead, I want to do the OBA conversion to add to the "wow factor" of my jeep. One of my greatest friends has also given me first dibs on some "built" rubi axles, along with ATX slabs when they do the conversion to one tons soon, halting my need to do any work to the drivetrain. Here is a picture of the winch in the rear put on for some measurements, along with random pictures I've had the opportunity to take!

So it's time for an update! A lot of my prior goals have fallen through. The built rubi axles with slabs deal fell through, but it's alright. I improvised and made a huge difference in the Jeep! I installed 4.56 gears in my rear axle, bought an east coast gear supply ultimate 44 housing, with 4.56 gears and an e locker, bought a set of teraflex falcon shocks for a 4-6in lift, and a 3.5in lift from a buddy. The lift was Frankensteined together. Rock Krawler front springs, rancho rear springs(will be replaced soon with RK) and Rusty's y link front control arms. I need to do rear control arms still, but I'm unsure when I will get around to it. I also put 37x12.50r16.5's on the Jeep! Some pics for your entertainment are attached!
