If the overspray hasn't been on long, wax will get it off. If not that, then try WD40 and then put a coat of wax back on the area... if that doesn't work, then bug/tar remover... last resort is using clay. There are different levels of abrasiveness with the clay so start with the least.

Clay in a week if it's a big area. Thinner if a small area. Followed by a generous coat of wax.

I had the same issue when working on my JK, wind was blowing and some spray paint for my shackles got on my wife's JKU, she complained and I felt bad so hit it with WD40 after some research. It works but is definitely labor intensive. Took me hours to do her front clip. And it is not totally clean either. I ended up just telling her no charge for the metal flake. Black Jeep, red flake...FTW.

Mr. Clean Magic Erasers work great for taking overspray off.

WD40 is oil. I imagine it would leave a nasty residue. Thinner will evaporate very quickly. It will remove all of your wax. I would not put WD40 on any painted surface. Not on purpose anyway.

That thinner is likely to do more damage than WD40 will.

A rag wet with isopropyl alcohol should take it right off.

Just use a clay bar. Magic Eraser will scratch the clear. You could try to water down some acetone or thinner, however I would do my best with a clay bar before anything else.
