Got some more goodies in the mail today! Terraflex cam bolt eliminators and my new cb. In keeping with the painfully cheap theme I went with a cobra 19dx IV... Installing the radio tomorrow pics to follow!

So I got bored and couldn't sleep (night shift worker syndrome) and I went to the shop and installed my cb. At midnight. Anyways I'm not a big fan of drilling holes so I came up with a pretty cool mounting system... I know this isn't for everyone as it's not the most user friendly location but here it is. I took a magnet that goes with a paint gun liner dispenser and placed it behind the carpet on the passenger side trans tunnel and poked a very small whole in the factory rug. Then bolted the supplied bracket to the magnet, cut a small x in the carpet for my coax and power wires to go through. Then I started searching for a way to get the power wires through the firewall. I was texting my fellow insomniac jk505 and he enlightened me on the hole between the removable dash panel and the cowl panel used a coat hanger as an impromptu fish tape and wired it up! I'm very happy with the finished product even though the display and knobs are not very ergonomic. I didn't have to drill my dash and I'm tickled with it. Then I needed a way to hold my mic again I never considered drilling my dash panel. I lucked out here. I bought a stream light pocket flash light about a year ago and it came with a lanyard that has an adjustable choker built into it and a break away clip on it. It worked perfectly to go to my freedom panel L latch. And when the tops out the quick detach will go into the window frame latch . Now just gotta get it tuned!

I think it's called "cool mounts" could be making that up but it's a popular mic mount I used one on my last jeep. Very nice, no drilling. But are you not concerned with the magnet messing with the cd signal? I'm not a cd expert by any means tho.

I was curious about this too. I know magnets can destroy memory but I don't see that being an issue with a cb. I could see how it would possibly be problematic near the antenna maybe? I'll be interested to see how it works.
