Hi All,
I am continuing around Cameroon, loving every second of the cooler mountain air.
The scale of Chinese road construction here is staggering, the jungle is being smashed down faster than my brain can comprehend!

Man, this is so cool! I'm so freakin jealous.
Cheers to you man, I know you received a lot of pessimism and haters when you first posted your idea.
One thing I must ask though, security wise, have you had any nerve-wrecking moments (besides the mine-littered road, insane by the way)? I guess my question is, with no weapons, what's your safety net? Hypothetically, if someone blocked your way and attempted to jack you Jeep under gunpoint...what would you do?
Sorry for the bad juju, but I'm intrigued/fascinated.

As for your question, I have never, ever had a moment where I was genunely worried or felt threatened or scared.
And that applies for all of Central and South America and all of West Africa so far.
Even the guys with guns have never once threatened me or felt in any way menacing or intimidating. They are very quick to smile and shake hands.
Hypothetically, I have a few ideas about what I would do in your proposed situation, though if it really comes down to it, I will happily give away the keys to the Jeep if there is a gun in my face. No vehicle is worth dying for, end of story.

Hey All,
I am still absolutely loving Cameroon!
In a single day I hiked to the summit of Mount Cameroon and back down again, over 20,000 feet of elevation change in a singe push.
To say that it kicked my *** is an understatement!
More: Mount Cameroon Summit - Day Hike | The Road Chose Me
After that, I went in search of some R&R, and found great camping on the black-sand beach near Limbé.
Amazingly, the oil refinery right next door did not diminish the beauty.
As usual, the ocean is bath water warm.

What do you want to see?
More or something?
Less of something?

Hey Everyone,
Cameroon has been absolutely fantastic, though all good things must come to an end.
I spent even more time at beach-side paradise, searching for turtles on the border with Equatorial Guinea, one of the most corrupt countries in the world.

Now I am cutting inland through the thick jungle, heading for Gabon.

Hey All,
I am pinching myself right now - for the second time in my life, I have driven a Jeep across the mighty Equator.
Last time was in Ecuador in the little TJ:
This time is in Gabon in the mighty JKUR:
I am excited to think about where I will be next time I cross the magical line on the ground!
You can read more here: The Equator, Gabon | The Road Chose Me
..
I also just uploaded the video of National Park Tai from Ivory Coast - this is why I slogged in that mud for so many days.
Absolutely incredible!

Hi All,
After checking out the inspiring Albert Schweitzer Hospital, I am heading into the Loango National Park - it's world famous for surfing hippos and wild elephants that wade into the ocean.
Just getting there is breathtaking!
