Its not a PROBLEM, but your going against traffic if you go during the summer. On a big weekend, there's a LOT of traffic.

As for time, I wouldn't expect to be through in under 6 to 7 hours of nonstop driving with little traffic. I would hope that you have a fairly cavalier attitude towards body damage, as there are going to be some narrow spot and drop offs.

With the right car, I would do it alone again in a heartbeat.

Just be sure there is a 2nd vehicle with you.

Either direction are fine. But I think it is easier to get back on the main road on Tahoe side for assistance. Ice house road is a long road with many sharp turns, no fun IF you vehicle came out with steering problems.... been there done that.

good to know i may get up early and go the correct direction, i will be staying in tahoe though

Thats even better!. you will be much close to Tahoe by the time you finish the trail!!!

yeah I am not huge on a body damage, I am pretty sure it can be done with out damage to body panels, but then again that is why i am askin.

Yes You can do it without body damage(s). I did it without any LAST YEAR


This year I mange to bent my slider downwards....

Even the most skilled 4x4 drivers in the world use spotters when they are needed. You shouldn't be embarrassed to ask for a spotter.

And, as far as wheeling being a group sport goes, it may not be. But repairing a broken down vehicle or going to find help often is.
