Default beach driving

I was thinking of getting a permit to drive on the beach this year, but everyone always tells me to stay away from the sand and salt water. I know it's not good for the jeep but it seems like many others here go in the sand. Is really as bad of an idea as everyone makes it sound? Anyone with a lot of beach driving experience have any input?

Well, how often are you gonna go on the beach...guess youcl can ask yourself that first. A couple times a year isn't gonna do anything...

If I like it it may be a couple times a month as I may do some surf fishing as well.

We go about every other weekend in the summer. I always rinse the under body to remove sand and salt. I usually just leave the water sprinkler under the Jeep for about 20-30 minutes, moving it around occasionally to hit all areas, if I can't get it to a car wash. I haven't noticed any corrosion yet. Seems to be working for me.

X2. If you wash it after and make sure you maintain it, you should be fine... just like if you go muddin' just a little different...

I took my previous Jeep to beach few times and got carried away a little bit. I drove on the water a bit. That was my mistake. A year later I noticed my paint was starting to chip off.

I'm staying away from beach now.

Yikes! I was thinking of hitting the beach this summer. Where is your paint chipping?

I take my jeep on the beach all year long. Just be sure to keep it out of the water and rinse it after every trip. Make sure you have a good coat of wax. I would also air down the tires and use 4-lo. If you try driving fast the auto trans will over heat in a few seconds. M5ivan what beach?

Thanks, just got off the beach. It's pretty windy in Outer Banks N.C.
