I leave 2 D ring shackles attached to my front bumper, one attached to the rear bumper and I have on extra in my recovery bag inside the Jeep. My biggest concern about leaving them on the outside of the Jeep is theft. So far, no issues.

I too have one clipped and tensioned on my front bumper with a winch. It could still be stolen but somebody would have to really want it to get it off. The other on the front and and rear of the Jeep would both come off in 5 seconds if someone wanted to steal them. No doubt the safer route is to take the shackles off the bumper and put them in the recovery bag which is already overflowing and bursting at the seams.

I initially thought this but if someone is that hard-up that they need to steal a $12.99 D Ring from ya they must need it really bad. I say take it but don't scratch my bumper!

i have an ARB snatch strap--do i need to unbolt my front D ring and slide it thru the loop? or can i just loop the strap around itself and leave the D-ring attached?
