ESP issues...
How much of a problem is this off road. Im not used to all of this electronic stuff. I mean for now will simply pushing the button suffice for offroad use can you get the wheel speed up fast enough or should you actually do it the way the manual states about push 5 seconds turn right left 5 seconds turn wheel left wait for the bell???. Im looking at doing the special switch thing.
ESP is nothing to worry about off road.
I spend most of my time in 4lo off road. I like rocks though. The only issue that you get with the esp and offroad is when you shank your alignment and your steering. if your steering wheel gets 90˚ off then the ESP tries to correct when you turn due to sensors in the steering column. If its 180˚ then you get ESP BAS and you have done deeper mechanic or structural damage. Then thankfully is goes off al together.
Hope that helps

- 2Hi - useful
- 4HI - wont interfere
- 4LO - it turns off

This should be a sticky thread
I'm not telling you to remove the switch, but want to give this info to the members

It's good to be disabled. If the system is shut down due to a sensor going out, the system acts RETARDED whether in 2HI, 4HI, and 4L. Engine bogs and cuts out, acting like it's in a slip mode and tried to engage TCS. In 4L, BLD kicks on when it shouldn't and I'm battling the brakes. I hate this system (when it's not working properly). When it's in working order, it's tolerable.

How could having the disable switch be illegal, when the dealer can flash it and turn it off for good. They are more than happy to do it for you. It seems to me that having the switch would be better than having the dealer turn it off. With the switch...at least you can turn it back on when you need it.
Originally, I didn't do the mod because I was worried about insurance coverage if I was in an accident, but now, if the dealer will turn it off for you, how can the insurance deny that claim. I wonder if they would deny the claim if the dealership turned it off?

- I do illegal things on my Jeep also.
I just think that it's important to know these things.
Here are more infos:
In Canada, the dealer can't flash the TPMS to a lower PSI, and he can't disable ESP. If you have an accident and kill people, the Jeep could go to the inspection and you will have problems with the insurance, (the dealer also)
ONE MORE TIME: DO WHAT EVER YOU WANT WITH YOUR JEEP. It's just important to know these thing for our judgement.
