Default minium requirements for rubicon trail

I been always wanting to try out the Rubicon Trail and wanted some input from a few veterns who have and find out suggestions about the minimum tire/ lift needed to run the Rubicon Trail. I currently have 2010 Rubicon 2 door with mid width front bumper 9500 warn winch and aftermarket rock sliders.

In addition to whatever the others suggest, add this "A good veteran spotter."

I think it depends on when you go - Alot of large groups go through in the summer and stack rocks on alot of the obstacles, so depending when you go the trail can be easier at times. I think early spring when the snow melts is probably the most challenging time.

Depending on your off-road skills and as far as "Minimum Jeep Requirements", 33" or larger tires, 2" or greater lift, sliders and a good spotter. There are sections where its easy to get hung up. I recommend you go with a group that way if you run into trouble they can help you out.

5.38's are pretty short for 35's. You might find that it'd lead to some pretty high revs on the highway, and you may end up skipping first gear altogether when you're not crawling.

A set of 4.88's will restore you to "stock" gearing. 5.13's would be about stock for 37's.

As far as minimum requirements go...how built your rig needs to be depends on how much rock stacking, how much winching, and how much body damage you're willind to deal with.

Watch the vids (all three ) and then you're the one making payments on the rig...so you're the one that should be deciding.

There are some charts posted stating that an automatic should be 5.13 or 5.38 and damage doesn't bother me because I paid cash on my jeep and having no payments is a good feeling!!!

The week after the Jeep Jamboree on the Rubicon each year, Jeep takes a lot of dealers through the trail in stock Jeeps. They year I went (2005), we saw a lot of the International dealers come through in stock rubicons ( we spoke with some of the run leaders and they apparently pulled the fuses on the front lockers).
Granted, they took the bypass on the little sluice and the guides had spent the week before stacking rocks ( and pouring the occasional bit of concrete) but you can do it with a stock Rubicon ( and even less). The real question is how much trail damage should you expect with your set up.
