Default off road tire pressures

I have recently bought a set of 17x9 pro comp rims and a set of 285/70/17 treadwright guard dogs. treadwright.com/p-52-285-70r17-guard-dog-m-t-d.aspx
There is a link where it lists most of the tire info. I'm trying to figure out what I need to set my staun deflators to with out being in risk of loosing a bead easily. I'm guess some where between 10-15 psi? any recommendations or tips on figuring out how low to drop them with out loosing a bead?

With a 9 inch wide rim I wouldnt go any lower than 15 for sure. If u had a 8 inch wide rim u can go lower.

I agree here. I depends on the tire width/rim width proportion. The larger the proportion the lower you can go.

With a 12.50 tire and an 8" wide rim, it is fairly safe to be at 10, and even lower in teh 8 range. This depends on the tire brand as well. For example, I run both BFG Krawlers and Toyo M/T's in the rocks. The Krawlers will flex much better so they don't require the lower pressure to flex like Toyo's do.

It does depends on what you are doing. For most the trails I do here in Idaho I only go down to 20. When I go down to Moab I go down to 15 and don't air up until I leave.

It's easy to air down more on a trail if you need to, but it's more of a pain to air up on a trial, so I start at 15, and then drop it down more if I get to part of a trail where I need to air down more.

I was just on the trails last month with snow up to my hood. We had me aired down to 4psi I don't have bead locks. I have 35x12.50 on a 9 inch wide rim.

Each situation and terrain will dictate the pressure. I don't go below 18PSI and have yet to have an issue. That's the sweet spot for the terrain I run.

we do a lot of rocks, it's not moab but it is rocks, look up rausch creek. There is a fair amount of dirt trails and a little bit of mud. The tire link is up there so you can look at the tire specs too.

I normally run 12-15 psi at Rausch with 285/75R16s on 16x8 wheels, I have been down as low as 8 psi without ever losing a bead.

I'll have 12 on the rocks, and 9 at GLAMIS in the sand. 35 MTRs on 15 " wheels, no bead locks
