Default Putting it into 4L

Amateur question but i'm having trouble putting it into 4L while rolling and while stopped.

i'm reluctant to engage 4L while rolling because when i do the truck shakes a bit, even while going the suggested 2-3 mph.

If i put it in 4L when stopped it becomes really hard to move the shifter and often gets stuck in N.

Is there something i'm doing wrong?

With an auto, just roll slowly at no more than 5km/h put it into N, use a 2 motion pull on the lever; 1 to get it to neutral and on to enguage 4L. Then put it back in D or 2.

I might add, make your shift into 4L smooth but firm. Do not be timid, or it will chatter.

is there any way i can potentially damage the transfer case by shifting to 4L incorrectly. are there things to avoid?

i just don't wanna damage it because i don't know what i'm doing.

Avoid shifting to 4lo while moving too fast. It will GRIND.

Avoid shifting to 4lo in gear if an automatic. It will GRIND.

Avoid too much force. The plastic linkage retainer WILL break.

All the same for shifting back into 4hi from 4lo.

pretty sure on mine once you have it in "N" you have to pull the actual level to the right to be able to pull it into 4lo. maybe...perhaps lol I have only done it once. It was hard but she went eventually.
