Hi Mate

Correct procedure for engaging 4Lo is get the Jeep rolling about 2-3 K/Hr, pop the transmission into neutral and quickly move the 4WD lever int 4LO from 4HI before the jeep stops. I personally roll it down a slight incline if I can find one for 4LO engagement.

Hope that helps
Mani

The first couple of times I shifted into 4lo, I was also very timid. I expected it to slide right in. Unfortunately my first time was an epic fail. The second time I didn't really get it right either. Then I made sure I was rolling a bit and it has popped right in every time since. Be smooth and firm.

ive found that its easiest to get into 4lo when completely stopped. stop, place in N, foot off clutch, move into 4lo. same goes for getting back to 4hi or 2.

Default 2010 Jk

I got the 2010 JK and I have gone off road a total of about 5 times. Every time I have used 4wd Lo and 4 High. These are really stubborn gears to shift!

I found it best and easiest (and its still really stiff) to park level, put the jeep into neutral, shift into your choice of 4 Wheeling, and then switch it back to Drive!

yes i've used 4Lo a few times, it just seemed unnecessarily difficult to shift it. i've done it both while moving and while still and they seem to be equally difficult to the point where i thought I was damaging my transfer case. It just doesn't sound like it is going in smooth no matter what I do !!!

Glad someone posted this cause I have had the same problem trying to get into 4 lo and thought I must be doing something wrong. Always good to know that it is just me.

4lo is a non syncro'ed gear so yah its going to take a bit of effort to get engaged.

like someone posted above...rolling the jeep slow will help align these gears.
or you can reengage 4hi move a bit and then try again. Its about Aligning the gears .
