Jeep Hound I do a lot of Snow wheeling just got back from Big Bear, Ca. I never use Chains only on ice. I like to run low air pressure on my tires and try to stay on top of the snow. Sometimes maybe only driving 4ft then backing up to pack the deeper snow down.Make sure you bring extra clothing, water and food. have fun. But don't get me wrong I always have my chains with me.

As stated below the quote, momentum is the key not speed. Once you start to sink - back off - and put it in reverse. Then, re-start slowly in the forward position.

If you run chains, don't air down. if you don't run chains - do air down. You can by a small portable electric compressor for $39-$49 to air back up.

I have a set of chains for 37" tires and have never used them.

Chains won't clear my new Currie upper arms and links.

Sorry Currie you got some fat arms, love em.

Watch your 'Rear' clearance it is very tight.

No need for chains. Air down to 5 psi and enjoy the ride.

Whoa. If you can flex without rubbing then DO disconnect. You will do much better with articulation in snow. If you do run chains don't air those tires down. Also wheeling is about momentum. Floatation is the key. Momentum is important, but that includes both back and forth momentum is about timing. When you dig, you'll get stuck if the snow is even a little deep. Recovery is a snap if you don't bury yourself.

Folks, what about the Jeep's manual saying to not use chains on Saharas and Rubicons? Why is that?
