No, you can turn it on and off without the clutch. Say if you were to stall out or something.. You still need the clutch to shift, and put it in gear.

Also another question. if there anyway to "waterproof" the clutch?

I love my 6 speed, its fun and it adds to the challenge of wheeling (although my dad has a hand throtle lever and in a rough, uphill trail it is your best friend), personally i jus think all jeeps should be stick.

keep on jeepin!

I live in a very hilly area and a manual makes daily driving much more pleasant - my JKU was an auto and always felt a bit underpowered on the pavement, my 6-speed is a blast to drive.

Had standard In my tj and loved it off road, using the gears as a drag brake and being able to creep up the hills in 1st or second, don't realy know why us want to be offroad in 6th gear unless ur prerunning, but the only thing I didn't like about the standard tranny was driving on road for long periods of time

Are you in 4lo? I find it near impossible to stall in 4 lo, I love it. Plus I am fine with the 3.8 power on road with a manual.

Yea now you've got me all sentimental with my jeep. I love my auto though. Daily driver for me even though sometimes I miss a standard. Use to be a car guy and all I've ever owned was a stick.
