Default warn XD9000i and stock battery

Okay, so I was lucky enough to get a good deal on a used Warn XD9000i winch . Now the issue I have is what to do about the battery. Warn recommends a battery with 650 cca. which is greater than the stock battery. I know a lot of people are running Optima yellow tops but I don't have the $200 to pay for one. Sadly, Costco who had a great price on them in my area is no longer carrying the yellowtop. Any suggestions? Should I purchase a new less expensive battery with more cranking amps or just connect to stock battery and wait till I can get the money for the Optima?

I run the same setup as you and have not had any issue with performance of winch.

You could always run a dual-battery setup and get a $60 battery.

on a long hard pull it may make a difference, make SURE you dont over load it by winching for to long at once and keep the RPM's up

thanks for all the feedback everyone . It seems like a number of people are sticking with the stock battery and doing fine. I'll probably do the same for now. I just wouldn't want to be stranded somewhere with a dead battery after winching. This is the first winch I've owned so I didn't know how critical the battery power is.

Default Stay with the stock battery

I have the same set up (stock battery and Warn XD9000i and have had no problems recovering my buddies H2. If you are going to be wheeling every weekend and using the winch frequently, then maybe go to the optima. Otherwise, you are fine with the stock battery.
