Thanks so much for the idea. I built this today and managed, with the help of one, small woman, to get the top off, onto the cart, and put away.

This is a simple, elegant design that saves a lot of space in my garage!

Default dimensions

Thanks JLightning9- great idea. I built one this weekend for my two-door and it does the trick.

People have asked for dimensions: for the two (long) bottom pieces I used 6-foot lengths (that leaves a few inches to spare on each side). I used 30-inch lengths for the bottom cross sections. 2 1/2 -inch caster (cheap!) For the vertical pieces I used two 8-foot 2X4s cut exactly in half, so about 4-foot.

I also rigged up a way to hold the tailgate window in place while carrying the top in the position that you see it in JLightning9's photo (i.e. rear window facing downward). I was afraid the window would swing open and get damaged while we manipulated the top. So I used an expanding shower curtain rod (the kind you unscrew to lengthen) and a short bungee. worked like a charm!

sorry no photos.

Thanks! I plan to try to build this cart soon if I can't keep my hard top on a hoist.

It seems like I can just store it on pillows and blankets against a wall. Am I wrong?
