Is it possible to run the factory tank and the sterling rear?

How are the road manors with the front 3 link?

Nice build!

When I was researching the Sterling install I emailed RedX08 and asked this same question. His advise was yes it can be done. If you Heat and Beat the tank corner and modify the sheild a little.

I just aquired some 02 Ram 2500 Dana 60s, would I be able to use these, as I see most of you guys are using the Ford axles.

Check out jeep speed shop, they have a jk tone ring that will go on the hub of a 14 bolt. They also make a bracket that holds you sensor. This will make your pocket book happy. I could have gone with a unit bearing on the front 60, but i rather have a hub and spindle and just put new bearings in when i need to. I am not a fan of unit bearings.

i just checked and couldnt find them on there. do you have a part number?

You can run the sterling 10.25 with the factory gas tank without any mods to the tank. I pulled a sterling off of a 02 F250 superduty Below is my set up.

Not sure on the 4 doors somewhere awhile back i heard of someone using a longer one on four doors but i cant for the life of me recall who or what it was off of. "Normally" 2 doors can use the ones off a 4 door. Or are you looking just how to hook it up not length issues?

2climbbig 09-22-2014 07:19 AM

I am trying to find some the 4 door can use. My stock brake cables are definately too short. While I found a company that builds them, I prefer to grab some from a junk yard if I can.

Never thought about this! Great idea.

Anyone have a set off a 4 door they don't need :)

2climbbig 09-22-2014 08:11 AM

how long are the 2-doors. I can measure my 4 doors for you.

So I commented on this thread 2 years ago and now I am getting my axles to start building them. For the front would you still going to with solid spindle 4 years later and with what parts are available now? Deciding whether I should spool the front with manual hubs or not.

I personally would not spool the front even on a purely trailered rig. Get an auto locker or selectable. Hubs can blow. Some guys here run slugs and just pop them in and out.

I found a smoking deal on a kingpin 60 and a sterling 10.50..... only issue is that it's set up for a dually. Would I be able to just get away with using the dually hubs or would it make sense to convert them to SRW?

Id convert it to srw or find new axles. But it depends on how wide it is before the hubs and depends how your setting up the build.
