1 ton jk build

I sold my dana 44s off my jk last oct or nov, and sold my lift and tires not soon after that. I wanted to put one ton axles under my jeep, but didn't have the money to do what I wanted and buy axles from currie or dynatrac. So I called my friend that works at a junk yard and pulled some axles out of a 2002 F-350 and the build got started. The first thing I did was order a bunch of parts.

If you have any questions please feel free to post. I used rock krawler long arm upgrade with some custom touches. The rear ori are all custom.

BlackNorthernJK 06-28-2011 05:30 PM

Very impressive, well done

Jeff76 06-28-2011 06:24 PM

Nice! I ll be doing a similiar build soon with king coilovers f/r and 1 tons out of a late model ford. Im going to drill holes in the tub and run rear coils into cab behind back seat to a custom crossmember/mount.

Keep the pics coming.

cyberbrain 06-28-2011 06:32 PM

are you keeping the stock electronics or ditching them? ABS ESP?

mister ed 06-28-2011 06:38 PM

Will this void your warranty?

SICK!

Man you might have just started a trend lol. I'm sure junk yards have a few of these trucks just sitting around waiting for a Jeep owner to come grab.

Keep us updated on the build! Very cool man

Nickit1981 06-28-2011 10:11 PM

i am curious how the go cart engine is going to handle all of this. Should have grabbed that old fords engine as well! very impressive none the less.

I am moving the ori mounts into the tub this weekend.

Go cart engine will be fine, this is not the first jk with 1 ton axles and 40s. I would never put a ford motor in my jeep, but a chevy motor will find its way in there within the next year or two.

Hskr4x4 06-29-2011 04:16 AM

Will that chevy motor void your warranty :rotflmao2:

Jeff76 06-29-2011 04:52 AM

Warranty.......we don't need no drinkin warranties. In my experience dealerships try to weasel their way out of warranties if u put anything aftermarket on a vehicle. Atleast that's my experience.

I just read this in my warranty doc:
"...removal of stickers will also void your warranty."
If you re-add a "trail rated" sticker to your 1 ton, then you should be good.

Smevans 06-29-2011 09:01 AM

Very impressive. Lets see some more pictures of the finished product!

Interested to see how you incorperate the wheel speed sensors in the back. I have the same axle in the front of my Jeep.

http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._7578209_n.jpg

The front 60 is out of an '03 F-350 SRW. I converted the hubs to accept 8x6.5" wheels instead of the 8x170's. My plan is for a 14 bolt rear end. The front end is fully abs/esp compliant and works flawlessly. I'm just pondering how I'm going to get the rear 14 bolt swap to be abs/esp compliant. I have one idea that I really want to do to accomplish that, but my pocket book might not be happy.:D

redx08 06-30-2011 03:25 AM

Check out jeep speed shop, they have a jk tone ring that will go on the hub of a 14 bolt. They also make a bracket that holds you sensor. This will make your pocket book happy. I could have gone with a unit bearing on the front 60, but i rather have a hub and spindle and just put new bearings in when i need to. I am not a fan of unit bearings.

Awesome build.. Are the axles you installed the same width as fill width Dynatracs? Looking to replace both axles with full width and was looking at the Dynatracs, but this is a great option as well.

The rear axle is I believe 68.75, and the front is 69.25.
