Ford has been using sterling axles for a long time. It should be pretty easy to find one out of a late model truck. Only downside is that lockers are expensive and there arent many to choose from. I know detroit and arb make one. Bolt pattern is 8 on 170mm. I'm using this axle in my build. Not sure what it takes electronice wise..

Just to keep my aev beadlocks. On the other hand, i do like those new "slab" wheels

See there is my problem. I want a lug pattern of 8x6.5 to match my d60 kingpin

Default Corporate 14 bolt rear

Hello all.
I am really interested in this 14 bolt axle swap for my 4 door. My original plan was to put dana 60's front and rear. But I am getting a 14 bolt FF for way cheap. Like 150 complete. 75 with trade. So i started doing some searhing. I am still foggy on this conversion. I would like the 14 bolt to be at leat 5 on 5.5 because i just bought wheels 2 weeks ago. Yeah should have thought more about it but whatever.
I have read the aussie that has put one in the jk, but it was 8 lug still.
So what I am trying to find out before i get this rear is there a 5 on 5.5 hub with tone ring that will work with the 14 bolt? All the ones i have seen are 35 spline for dana setup not 30 spline setup for the 14 bolt.

Anyone got any info on this? Should i just stick with the d60 idea?

Same issue. I have my Kingpin D60 started and wanting a rear to match the 8x6.5. I think the 14 bolt is one of the better options unless you go metric.

The sterling 10.25 are 8x6.5 so you do have options and arent limited to just the 14b.

But then you have to convert the drum brakes to disc brakes and deal with an emergency brake setup?

Thats abosutley true but you'll end up changing the brake setup on the 14b too. Again just letting you know there are other options out there.

What about a D70? More clearance and they can be found 35spline and 8x6.5
