2WD Pride?
Ok, so in chatting with some of you on my Leveling Kit question, I discovered (to my pleasant surprise) that I'm not the only 2WD JKU on here!
Let me first say that this is my 3rd Jeep, and although it is 2WD (and I abhorred that as much as anyone when I first got it), I've learned to love it. In 2008 when we were looking (and had been for a while) she did have EVERYthing else we wanted (including the VERY rare at the time factory half doors). I'm a Jeep lover, and knew she would be my DD (as my TJ was before her) so I had to have a serious conversation with myself - how often did I put the TJ in 4WD (rarely), how much was I saving on sticker (a lot) and in gas (also a lot). How likely was it that I would find everything I wanted and 4WD, too (not likely, we'd been looking for a year already by then). I was seriously almost ready to settle for full doors (which I didn't want) on a red (which I also didn't want) used '07 JKU that I would have driven over three hours just to get to. So we decided to stop by the dealership, just to drive one to be sure we liked the feel (buying brand-new, from a dealer, was also something I always said I'd never do - kinda like buying a 2WD Jeep), and there she was - on the showroom floor, no less. Topless and gorgeous! Perfect color, half doors...
Long story short (too late!), that's how I came to own a 2WD - and I've been VERY happy with her. I've had a lot of fun doing little, low-cost mods, traveling, camping, and just generally enjoying my Jeep!

Anybody else out there loving their 2WD and man enough to admit it?

Nice Jeep, now all you need is a transfercase and a dana 44. In choosing the less expensive route,it cost you a fortune on resale. If this thing is going to be passed down to your great grandkids, who cares? But more than likely you will want to seel it or upgrade. I am sure this isnt news to you and if it does all you want more the better. It's still a jeep.
2wd here I love mine , I never was into rock crawling and wouldn't you know it all the guys I know with 4wd never use it because they never leave the road , but since I got my JK I have learned a lot more about off roading and I got to say I think I have learn more then most 4wd guys because the moment they hit the trail they put it in 4wd and just go , I had to learn how my jeep handles and get a feel more for what she is doing and picking my lines to go trough , I have been out with guys who didn't even know mine was a 2wd till the end of the day

I have a Tacoma Prerunner also that is just a front axle and transfer case short of being a 4wd. In that case the spindles are there instead of the axle. Figured the 2wd Wrangler would be the same set up. Is the front axle itself any different or is it a solid I-beam set up?
