Yeah, thats not really a jk anymore. Its some hybrid kit car now.
But i think a 4bt on a 700r4 or th400 would work great. The only adapter needed would be one for the transfercase, which advance adapters has in stock. The ecm may not like the fact that its engine readings have flatlined, but i dont think it would affect any interior items, as in a/c and what not. The 4bt and 700r4 would run great since all they need basic mechanical input. The ecm would freak out and tell the 42rle to go on strike, but unfortunatley, the 42rle would also... Be absent without leave....lol, so the ecms attempts to ruin your day would all be in vain.
Esp, abs, stereo, headlights, and all would work fine also. They arent dependant upon engine signals.

there's not enough room to move it back 12 inches in a wrangler.
4bt would provide plenty of power. 6bt is like putting a v8 in a prius.
you could potentially get a 4bt swap if you did it yourself for less than 8k. EASY. and that's a high estimate.

That's an interesting thought...everyone comments on how hard it would be to interface a diesel with the CANBUS, but in all reality what would HAVE to be interfaced? Better yet, what functions would NOT work? I think thats a better question---if it was known what would have to be given up, it would make the decision to even TRY it that much easier. I'm WAY interested in this...

And not to pull this thread off track, but here's a question---probably already been answered, but no sure:
If they offer an export diesel wrangler, whats to stop someone from buying THAT engine and swapping? Just hard to find, PITA to swap, or what?
