Default AEV Dana 44 differential slider

I installed an AEV Nth slider on the rear differential yesterday (see attached pics). The install was super easy, 3 U bolts and 6 nuts and washers. The slider protects the differential housing and the flange portion of the CV joint. The only thing that the installation appears to hinder is the removal of the drain plug but AEV did provide holes to allow access, I will have to wait until the next diff. oil change to find out.

I see the heavy cast pumpkin is now well protected, but your evap canister is still waiting for disaster!

Would love to have that diff skid, though! Nice!!

It's not a match to the Rock Hard gas tank skid though. I'm going to have to grind some on both to make it work. I also had to remove it to change fluids. Doesn't take much to yank it. I ended up yanking it again at the Golden Crack on Golden Spike because of it hanging up on the fuel tank skid. Only took a few minutes.

Good to know. It amazes me how products can work so well apart, but put them together and you get an unexpected pain in the a$$.

When it hung up on the gas tank skid, I assumed it kept the axle sucked up. Did it keep the spring under tension? Was it a challenge getting it to release?

Yeah the Rock Hards were some of the first mods I did to the JK. On their own they're awesome. However... they don't work well with the Shrockworks sliders, the Atlas TC or the axle slider. I also suspect the coverage they have underneath the vehicle (which is awesome for protective purposes) is giving me no help with my overheating problems.

When it hung up, it would pop loose shortly thereafter. One second I'd be riding just fine then I'd go off camber and if it was to the right, I'd all of a sudden be WAY off camber when back level. Then, POP! and I'd be okay again. I think it helped lead to my near tip on Gold Bar Rim (along with it being the stupidest line I picked all week in Moab.) I was hoping the two would wear themselves in, but it became so disconcerting that I finally yanked it. The metal showing on the two tell me just where to I need to grind them though.

I have the AEV slider as well... love it, great idea. As far as the drain plug for the diff. It could have been better. I just added an ARB diff. cover this past weekend. you can unscrew the plug, but you can't get it out. Washing it and putting it back was a pain, I almost ended up removing the AEV slider. I wish they would have made the hole a little bit bigger.

Does anybody else have this? Is it worth the armor there?

I have it and I keep it off now except if I am going to a really rocky area.

I took if off the first time to see if and how it had rubbed on anything. It rubs a little bit on my stock fuel tank skid (barely worth taking time to grind).

I took it off the second time when I put my Riddler diff covers on because you can remove the drain plug, but you cannot pull it all the way out. It made a mess so I decided to pull it all off and clean up everything.

It is an easy install and uninstall so I don't mind keeping it off unless I think I may need it.
