Crash Test-Impressive
With the "help" of an amazing salesman, my wife and I both left the dealership with new Jeeps. I, my in my Unlimited and she in a new Patriot. We'd had them about a month when my wife stopped for a red light. As she was sitting, totally stopped a drunk (4 dwi's now) driver rammed her at 60 mph in a 95 Ford F250. There were NO skids marks whatsoever leading up to the rear of the Patriot. My wife was released from the ER in under two hours and she's had to go to PT and Chiropratic care a few times, but overall I am totally impressed with DC-Jeep's impact engineering!

Wow...she was very lucky, there was a post a few months back about a accident a member had with an Expedition in his jk. I was really amazed how well it protected the passenger compartment.
An unlicensed drunk in an uninsured, borrowed truck. There really are people out there with nothing to lose. I believe this girl is on that list. She is too pitiful for me to even get angry about. The witnesses and state troopers who chased her down were incredible. My concern is really with the courts. We have already received a letter from the DA with the words Plea Bargain on it. She needs major help and to be removed from the roads until she changes.
My advice is CYOA. Everyone should make sure they are really covered. It's worth the time to sit down with their insurance agent and do this. Spend the extra $$$ (hey you've got $25-$30K into this already) and get the extra rider that replaces a new vehicle in case of accident. This is our 5th vehicle with that kind of coverage and this one has more than paid for the money we've spent on the rest.

Thanks for the post and pictures. I glad to hear your wife will be OK too. I just got a Jeep Liberty for my 17 yr old daughter. This just confirms what I've been told about a Jeep in a crash. They can take a good hit.
As far as the crashworthiness, I'm looking at the picture I quoted here, and am trying to figure out what would have happened to anyone sitting in the backseat... how screwed would they be?
Yeah, I've been thinking about that too. I didn't really capture that angle very well. My wife would've ended up in the lap of the backseat passenger and that person would be experiencing some definite lower body trauma. As it was the front seat bottom smacked into her left calf with a great deal of force. She has quite a temporary tattoo there. Her ankle and calf are still quite swollen. But you are right, a backseat passenger would have been even more banged up. However I totally believe they would have survived it (the most important part) and not have been permanently disabled from it.
BTW thanks to all of you for your well wishes!
