Custom modular JK hardtop
I prefer the original, #1 . The squared off openings match front to rear. Also would match the squared -off trailer fenders of the off road trailer I am building. Thinking about putting running boards before and after the fenders on the trailer to put fuel and water containers.
I can remember the fenders used as field meetings, platoon sergeants on one side, platoon leaders on the other side, 1SG and Commander at the front and the hood used as the table.

So far, of all the sources I've asked for input on the various rear flat fender designs, here's the tally:
Option 1: 8
Option 2: 4
Option 3: -
Option 4: 3
And one person wrote "I've yet to see anything I like about the flat fenders", so I'll count that as a vote for none of them.

Thanks for the input. The goal for the front fenders was to be faithful to the original military flat fenders, which is why the new fenders are shaped the way they are rather than following the curves of the JK factory fenders. Rounding the sharp rear corner of the front fenders would be very easy to do, but it isn't the look I was going for - I'm sure the true-to-original look isn't for everyone, but it's exactly the look I wanted to achieve.

Since the original military Jeeps didn't have rear flares/fenders, there are more design possibilities in the back, which is why I posted a range of design options to see what people think.
Thanks again for the input.
I think the "Faithful to Original" Flat Fenders tie the generations of Jeep together, from the "original", to Now.
It works precisely because the design Evolved, it hasn't been rendered unrecognizable by overzealous focus groups pandering to momentary Fads.
The Flat Fenders are "Just Right"

I saw a few Jeeps here in Moab today wearing Mopar High Top fender flares: https://www.quadratec.com/products/12514_1040_07.htm
According to that Quadratec page and to a number of threads on the subject, these flares allow fitting 35" tires without a lift, or 37" tires with 2" of lift.
They attach to the stock mounting holes without any trimming of the sheet metal. I looked closely at a Jeep today that had them to see how they attach and how much clearance they provide, and they attach exactly the same as my fiberglass flat fenders. Clearance is the same too, so even though I don't have a set of 35's here to test with, I feel confident in saying that the flat fenders will support the same tire specs as the Mopar High Tops: 35" tires without a lift , or 37" tires with 2" of lift.

The Mopar high tops are awesome but they're awkward in the rear. I've got a feeling that your rears will sit nicer than theirs.
Did you decide any further on the heavy duty door hinges? I found corrosion forming and while I'm not at "that point" yet, I'm thinking about getting there.
