I wouldn't narrow it though. Full length truck axles look and work great under a jeep.

I'll be doing the same thing this year.
I agree I put a 9" and 44 under my yj and its not hard to do just takes some time to get the axles setup under the jeep making sure they are center and all angles are good but definitely worth it if you get both ford axles front and rear. Don't just put a 60 in the front and keep the 44 in the rear I would also run them full width.

This type of job is ONLY worthwhile if you (or helping buddies) can do all of the work. To get a shop to do this work is incredibly expensive.

You are more than likely correct on the expensive part. Hell even beefing up a Dana 30 is crazy expensive unless you or a buddy can do the work yourself. Eitherway I plan on upgrading my front axle with either a rubi dana 44, a prorock 44 or a bulit Dana 60 front and back. Right now it's all about research, options and money.

I've been looking at the axles from f350 hirail ,there Dana 60 used on rail lines , they look 3-4 inches shorter on both sides, does any one know how wide the Dana 60 axle should be under the jeep?

Stock JK axles are 65.5". If a 60 is to be used up front it will be 68.5" minimum. This extra width is due to the much larger wheel ends of the 60. To have proper clearance for shocks and springs the wheel ends must be moved out slightly.
