Cool....

I may get two slats and just use those if I want to carry cases etc....and use two cross bars for carrying my kayaks etc.

If you ended up getting slats you wouldn't need the crossbars for the kayaks. Two slats is all ya need. Their slat kit comes with six. I didn't see the need unless you wanted more of a platform.

How do the kayak attachements mount to the slats? From what I see if you want to use those, you would need cross bars...same with bike carriers

How do your kayak mounts attach? I wasn't thinking about clamp on style. My head just instantly pictured t slot bolt on style, or padding the slats and strapping the boats directly down to them to eliminate another piece of hardware.

The slats are basically just a wide crossbar

Teraflex now has an install video for the rack. I wish that would have been out before I installed mine. Also check out their short highlight video of it, shows some mounting options.

I am just thinking of the Yakima mounts for both....they use their cross bars for attachment. I have not investigated any other style.

Got ya, I think most brands now have t-slot style bolt down type attachments. Makes for a clean sold mounting.
