what they do to jeeps south of the border (or Texas)
Seems pointless... unless you put a few 'spectators' between the jeeps!1

The reason they pull in reverse is because of how the weight is distributed during the pull. If in reverse the front end lowers, thus lowing the back end as well. Giving the jeep better leverage and more traction. If the jeep tied in the rear then it tends to lower the back end but lift the front, not giving u full 4x4 traction.

Looks like those on the other side of the border know a bit more about jeeps then you....

I really doubt that much thought went into it.

I think the point is that pulling in reverse runs the risk of toasting your gears, as they are stronger going forwards.

Actually going in reverse is better for ur gears cause for those who don't have a Rubi, it puts more strain on the rear Dana 44 rather then the front Dana 30.

Really? I had not heard that one before. I toasted the front diff on a YJ after several reverse yanks before I knew any better. I wonder if the configuration is any different.

I dont believe they config was different perhaps ur front diff was just ready to go either way not because of pulling in reverse.
